A Suspect was apprehended by officers after he was caught with stolen items belonging to a victim he had just robbed from the streets. The suspect was moving around with a knife in the streets around Berea area. He got a victim and threatened him with the knife and then collected his phone from him.
The suspect moved away from the scene. The victim spotted the officers from Marshal security who were on patrol along Mathews Meyiwa Road and then flagged them down. He explained to them what has happened and the officers quickly moved into action and searched for the suspect around the vicinity.
Fortunately the suspect has not gone far away and he was identified by the victim while walking on Findlay Road. The officers apprehended him immediately and he was arrested. The SAPS from Durban Central were alerted and they arrived immediately and took the suspect away to the police station. The Suspect is charged for armed robbery and possession of stolen items.
