Enugu state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi lost Senatorial bid to Labour Party candidate
The candidate of the Labour Party in the Enugu North Senatorial bid, Okechukwu Ezea has emerged winner in a surprising turn of events. It was gathered that the Labour Party’s candidate defeated the outgoing Governor of the state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. The Governor who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party suffered a surprising loss in the battle for the Enugu North Senatorial District. The election which was held on Saturday, February 25 saw the Labour Party’s candidate, Mr. Ezea pulls a total score of 104,492 votes.
Gov. Ugwuanyi was only able to get 46,948 votes, making him the first runner-up in the Senatorial election. The result was announced at the Enugu state collation center in Nsukka LGA on Monday. The returning officer for the election, Chukwuemeka Ubaka noted that the Labour Party’s candidate emerged as the winner.
