2023 Elections: Tinubu Sweeps Jigawa, Wins Sixth State

The APC candidate won Jigawa in Nigeria’s North-West geopolitical zone, his first victory in the zone

The flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has officially won his sixth state in the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu won Jigawa State in Nigeria’s North-West geopolitical zone, his first victory in the zone.

The APC candidate polled 421,390 followed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 386,587. Labour Party (LP)’s Peter Obi clinched 1,889 while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) got 98,234 votes.

Governor Ishaku Loses Senatorial Bid

The governor lost to his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart in the district, David Jimkuta.

Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku has lost his election bid for Taraba South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

He is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the district.

Channels Television reports that the APC candidate polled 85,415 to defeat Governor who raked in 45,708 votes. The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Michael Magaji came third with 4,133.

Isibor, who was visibly agitated, had presented her presidential election result three consecutive times due to repeated errors in her figures.

The APC campaign council says the aggrieved parties cannot use the court to stop the electoral process as it is against section 84 (15) of the Electoral Act which prohibits the grant of injunctions to stop the holding of elections.

The Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the two main opposition parties, the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party of seeking to use the court to stop the ongoing collation of results.

The campaign, in a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Public Affairs of the PCC, Festus Keyamo, stated that the Electoral Act prohibits the court from stopping the conduct of elections in Nigeria.
