Nigeria Elections 2023: Accept Defeat, Fayose Urges Atiku

Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State, has urged Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, to concede defeat despite the fact that the results of Saturday’s presidential election are still being counted.

PDP leader Fayose made the announcement in a tweet on Monday night. In order to accept defeat and go for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, he urged the former vice president.

At this point, may I say good night and goodbye to all you represent? he wrote. “Our candidate, H.E. Atiku Abubakar (aka ‘Atiku is coming’) should accept defeat in maturity and retire peacefully to Dubai.

Fayose is one of the chieftains of the main opposition party who are demanding the resignation of PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu after Atiku became the party’s standard-bearer in 2022.

Although winning certain states in the results that have already been made public, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress is still ahead of Atiku in the polls.
