Foreigner Beaten And Burnt To Death By Residents, Is This Xenophobia?

Being a foreigner in South Africa has to be the most difficult situation anyone can find themselves in. To this day, many South Africans are not very fond of foreign nationals in the country. Especially those who are living in the country illegally, this is because some citizens believe that foreign nationals do not bring any good to the country and they are the reason why South Africa is experiencing a lot of economic challenges and also the reason why the crime rate is high.

South Africa has already gained the reputation of being a country that is xenophobic and afrophobic. Many foreign nationals, even those who have been living in the country illegally for many years, have experienced some sort of xenophobia, and some of them have even lost their lives at the hands of South Africans who decided to protest against the influx of foreigners in the country and also against the opportunities they believe are offered to foreign nationals.

Many foreigners have also stated that they do not feel safe or comfortable being in South Africa, but they come to the country for different reasons, some of them mainly for the opportunities that they are unable to find in their own countries. But some of them do indeed bring crime to the country, and there have been multiple reports of such cases against them

And some citizens have decided to fight back against crime, especially crime that is being conducted by foreign nationals. Another illegal foreigner was burned and beaten to death after the foreigner, who is from Mozambique, was allegedly a hijacked car who was found in Ivory Park, Gauteng. The other two suspects decided to escape, but one was left to his death.
