Chippa United boss explains the return of Kurt Lentjies.

Kurt Lentjies’s return is explained by the Chippa United manager

Kurt Lentjies’s return to Chippa United was decided upon for several reasons, according to club chairman Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi.

A short while ago, the former football player was hired as Morgan Mammila’s assistant coach.

Lentjies was appointed the interim coach of the Chilli Boys in 2021 while he was still under contract to play for the team.

Gavin Hunt was shown the departure door before this took place. The ex-Maritzburg United player later assisted the Gqeberha-based team in avoiding relegation last year.

But the club decided to name Daine Klate as the head coach when this season got underway.

When an opportunity to serve as an assistant coach followed, Lentjies turned it down. Klate had only presided over seven games when he was fired.

Lentjies and the club were at odds at the time this occurred. Mammila took over after that and performed admirably, but lately, nothing has happened. In their past seven games, they have gone winless.

Since Mpengesi and Lentjies have patched things up, the club has called him back to assist Mammila.
